The goal is to deliver on the clean energy and climate goals outlined in the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA), with the goal of 40% of clean energy benefits directed to disadvantaged communities.
New York State is working hard to combat climate change and reduce carbon emissions while focusing on environmental justice for disadvantaged communities (DAC) and supporting low and middle income (LMI) families. The governor’s principal order to satisfy many of these concerns is the CLCPA. The CLCPA covers a wide range of environmental goals and moral obligations. As such, the goal is to deliver on the clean energy and climate goals outlined in the CLCPA to benefit disadvantaged communities, who are embedded as partners in this non-profit entity.
Acadia and its partners have been working diligently for over 5 years in the energy integration market. The word integration means “the process of uniting different things”, like pieces of a microgrid. In that same of binding things together, Acadia is focused on LMI communities, which are highly underserved from an “Energy Equality and Environmental Justice” perspective. Acadia has set out and assembled a team which will unite many different energy and community components into a single solution. Many of the core principles of Acadia’s corporate vision align extremely well with the CLCPA.
Our team has deep experience with the CLCPA, legal expertise in energy, utility programs and advancing community-based organizations, grassroots advocacy, environmental and climate justice organizations, and coalitions which are dedicated to investing in the interests, development, and well-being of disadvantaged communities.
Establish programmatic input, embrace advisory groups, steering committees, utilize focus groups, program development and recruit local volunteers with “lived experience” in order to gain a deep understanding of community needs and advance our ability for the community to meaningfully participate in or otherwise contribute to these efforts.
